The "Pathways" and "Energy Training Partnership" Green Jobs Training Scholarship Programs provide updated skills and certifications for unemployed and underemployed construction laborers and professionals, as well as women, minorities, and other job seekers who face barriers to employment. Both projects will train targeted participants in the energy efficiency and solar energy industries.
Pathways (POP) pairs 8-10 weeks of technical and employability skills training at Sheridan Technical Center and OIC of Broward County.
Energy Training Partnership (ETP) pairs 4-10 weeks of technical and employability skills training at Atlantic Technical Center and OIC of Broward County.
For both ETP and POP programs:
- You must be 18 yrs or older.
- You must provide proof of education.
- You must be available and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- All men born after 12/31/59 must be registered for selective service to be eligible for DOL services, or show documentation why they were exempt. If you are18-25 and not registered you need to register at www.sss.gov before you can be enrolled. (The exception is if a person became a U.S. citizen after age 25, they are exempt. If they are exempt b/c they became a citizen after age 25, documentation needs to be provided, copied, and placed in the participant file.)
Specific POP requirements:
- You must live in one of the pre-determined service areas targeted in this program (this will be determined at your intake appointment).
- You must fall into one of the following categories: unemployed, high school dropout, criminal record, low/no income.
Specific ETP requirements:
- You must live at a residential address located in Broward County and must be a Florida resident for a minimum of one year.
STAGES OF THE PROGRAM
Stage 1: Intake (includes application, open house, TABE testing, meeting with OIC Care Coordinator)
Stage 2: Four-Seven Weeks of Technical Classes at Broward Technical Center (Sheridan or Atlantic campus)
Stage 3: Three Weeks of Employability Skills Classes at OIC of Broward County
Stage 4: Job Placement Assistance (one week and then ongoing until employment secured)
